Public transport in Berlin

The city has excellent Public transport (train, tram, subway, bus). Nothing works as well as the public transport in Berlin. The S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses connect virtually all neighborhoods with each other and that makes it super easy to move through the city and see a lot. Moreover, the public transport in Berlin is not expensive, because of the high frequency of trains you will never have to wait a long time and you will have master it quickly. You will find both information on the spot (maps on stops, flyers and brochures) as well as on the internet but I can give you personal assistance if you contact me. Coaches and public transport are infinitely cheaper than the expensive taxis in Berlin. There is an app available that you can Download .

I would like to give you some tips to travel by public transport:

The S Bahn (Strassenbahn) Is the overhead metro, the U Bahn (Untergrundbahn) Is the ordinary underground subway. Furthermore there is also RE (regional trains) that you usually don’t need unless you want to go to Potsdam quickly.

You can travel anywhere in Berlin with an AB ticket. This applies to both outside and inside the ring and is most used. ABC is only used by people who want to make a daytrip to Potsdam. Tickets can be bought in the vending machines in the subway station. With these tickets you can not only be on S, U and RE Bahn, but also on all buses in the city!

You should take a dayticket because you will anyway take the subway more than 2 times a day and from the third time on you will be above the dayticket prize !You can buy a groupticket if you want to travel together with the whole family or group. These are also very profitable. A week ticket is recommended if you stay longer than 5 days!

The Ringbahn is the overground S Bahn which spans the Inner City (12km diameter, corresponds to zone a), a full circle takes about 1 hour. S41 goes clockwise, S42 goes against the clock.

With the Ringbahn you can go to : Tempelhof, Neukolln, Treptower Park ( for S9 to Schonefeld airport) Ostkreuz ( the party district), Prenzlauerberg, Gesundbrunnen (Unterwelten), Jungfernheide (busshuttle to Tegel Airport), Messe Nord (bus station), Westkreuz.
